Introduction
Family therapy is one of the common interventions to deal with the issues related to marriages and relationships within the premises of the
families. In fact, the role of family therapist ranges from providing support from social to psychological level of the clients.
Based on the readings assigned, it is clear that the evidences related to the questions of morality and ethics have no permanent definition; they keep on changing from person to person and it depends over the skill of the expert that how he or she applies the best context to deal with the issues of the families.
What is your understanding of the question of morality in the context of Marriage and Family Therapy?
At first, it is significant to note here that the question of morality in the context of marriage is related to many dimensions, which range from—but they are not limited to—social and psychological obligations to each other in family. In fact, there is no line of distinction drawn between what is moral and immoral in the context of actions of the members of the family.

It is a kind of social institution, through which two people decide to live in a relation, which is based on mutual agreement. This agreement has some specific rules out of which, some rules are universally applicable and some of them are designed as per the comfort level of the partners.
Based on the assigned readings, the question of morality is challenged when one of the partners—or in some cases it can be both of the partners—fail to carry out what is expected from them (Watson, 2019). The family therapy bridges the gaps between the partners through positive communication and suggestions made through counselling.
Why can the topic of morality be considered controversial in the field of MFT?
In the same context, as mentioned above, it is quite typical to distinguish between what is moral and what is not in the context of marriage and family because the social and personal conditions keep changing for people. For example, what makes morality controversial and sensitive is the concept of valuing the ideas and personality of the other partner when marital vows are exchanged (Pearce, Haynes, Rivera & Koenig, 2018).
As per the notions of family therapy, it is in human nature to evolve and to...
