Introduction
The process of attaining motherhood is one of the greatest challenges that females have to go through. It is the time of pregnancy when their body goes through several unexpected changes and for them. It is quite a long and tedious journey of nine months.
However, the prenatal challenges and adjustments are equally in line with the postnatal adjustment that the mothers of a newborn should attend to; healthcare professionals at times emphasise on the need of having correct guidelines and procedures that help mothers in dealing with the postnatal care (Finlayson, Crossland, Bonet & Downe, 2020).
This process requires having resources at physical and mental both levels so that the vulnerability of mothers and their newborns can be addressed effectively. The following resource is the guideline that deals at the very basic level of supporting communities pertaining to enhance their knowledge about how postnatal adjustment for mothers should be managed at the best professional level.
Brief Overview of Primary Requisites in Postnatal Adjustment
At first, it is significant to note here that postnatal adjustment initiates from the very first minute of the childbirth. Therefore, the process of care should begin immediately after the childbirth. As per the clinical guidelines of care, during postnatal care, the first twenty-four hours are normally perceived as crucial to the health and wellbeing of both, the mother and the newborn (Harrison et al., 2021).
They both are not properly immune to various external factors. In some of the communities living in remote locations, the access to maternal facility is limited. Thus, in their cases in particular, a skilled attendant is needed at the time of delivery at home. This provision also projects that there are two basic ways of understanding the support process in postnatal phase at initial level (Law, Jackson, Guelfi, Nguyen & Dimmock, 2018).
The first phase is designed to train community social workers (preferably females) who can track the record of pregnant mothers especially those who are not in a situation to be attended in the nearby maternity ward. These trained workers are expected to be aware of the basic methods of care given at home.
These include determining the frequency of visits, assisting the mothers with a view to develop their routine, feeding the newborn in the perfect way possible as well as taking care of the basic hygiene (Finlayson et al., 2020). It is evident that deliveries taking place at homes have more chances of hygiene-based issues than they occur at maternal facilities. Thus, hygiene is another significant factor that contributes towards attaining holistic care delivered to the mothers.
In the context of the above, it should also be noted that when it comes to proper training of the professional assistants, they should be well versed for developing healthy diet plans for mothers because it is important for new mothers that they only eat healthy diet. They need to be on high protein diet along with proper fluid intake because during delivery of the newborn, a great deal of blood loss takes place (Ogbo et al., 2019).
Thus, it is important for them to take care of their fluid level. Along...
