Introduction
This assignment has been based on the kind of the debate between the prescription and prohibition of medical cannabis in Australia. This medical cannabis or the medical marijuana plants are a kind of plant, which has been used for the treatment of the patients. These medical plants have been used as a capsule or liquid medicine during the treatment of chemotherapy. It can help in prevention of the nausea and vomiting during the treatment of the diseases. However, this kind of chronic has been banned in some of the countries. The debate will show the reasons behind its prescription and its prohibition process.
Overview of Social Problem
The social problem, which has been knocking in the doors of the medical houses, is the injection of medical cannabis in the treatment of the patients. The problem is that in the annual and the world records it has been seen that medical cannabis has been used as a substitute for relieving the patients from the side effects (Lucas & Walsh, 2017). The side effects like nausea, vomiting, dizziness while undergoing carcinogenic treatments, which causes irritation in the bodies of the patients. Medical cannabis has been also used for improving the appetite of the people with the HIV Aids and chronic muscle pain.
In spite of it being the framework for the medical cure, many of the government has decided to ban it. The main reason, which has been behind this, is that medical cannabis has been only used as a drug and it has no other usefulness in the human body. Therefore, practitioners have highlighted that it can serve to increase the problem in the human body silently, rather than treating the patients for a long run and healthy living (MacCallum & Russo, 2018). Therefore, general debate has been aroused due to this prescription of this cannabis will continue or the eradication of this will persist.
Description and Framing of This Approach in Australian Media Discussions
One of the most pharmaceutical driven medical cannabis postures in the world is the course of the cannabis framework of Australia. Australian medical expertise head Cohen has described medical cannabis in a lucid manner. He said that there have been two main approaches, by which the Australian can get access to medical cannabis. Firsts is the Special Access Scheme Category pathway. Through this scheme, doctors will be able to determine what kind of cannabis has been suited for the patients with permissions from the federal government of Australia. The doctors will write prescriptions regarding the use of cannabis for the patients.
In the Australian discussion, such as being spoken by Chien is that, there is an estimate of 7000-9000 active patients, who have been currently prescribed cannabis medicines. The use of cannabis will likely to increase 20,000 patients. Next is the approach of the “The Legislative Response to Cannabis in Australia” which has been taken for meeting Cannabis (Lintzeris et al., 2018). This approach has been prior accept for the prohibition of cannabis in Australia so that it does not stand effective for the people. A lot of doctors and practitioners have been in support of these formulations.
Overview of Policy Approach
The Legislative Approach to Cannabis has been swayed with different opinions. It has been dealing with the versions of prohibitionism where cannabis has been related to the activities which have been legislatively prohibited are made illegal. Therefore, it has been checked and widely accepted by the Australian government (Cairns, Brown, Gunja & Buckley, 2017). Next is the Special Access Scheme Category Pathway approach. This approach has been widely used for the inscribing of cannabis for the wellbeing of the patients suffering from life threatening diseases. It has been through this scheme or approach a large number of patients has been attracted to cannabis and undergoing it.
Key Theory of Government in Underpinning the Approach
The key theory of the government under panning the approach, “The Legislative Approach to Cannabis”, is that the government of Australia has been evaluating the marijuana laws as the inconsistency, causing a kind of heterogeneity in the responsiveness of the different populations of Australia. Government has been highlighting the clear insights into poking at the probable effects bringing a legalisation of the marijuana. There have been chemical agents such as the tetra cannabidiol, which stands harmful for the body. Therefore, the government of Australia has called for banning this drug (Karanges, Suraev, Elias, Manocha & McGregor, 2018). Practitioners have been made cautious regarding the use of this drug.
Social or Philosophical Values in Underpinning the Approach
The social or the philosophical values, which have been underpinning the approach of the “The Legislative Approach to Cannabis”, are that prohibition of this medical cannabis must be “ideological”. It has been shown that freedom provides a sound ethical reason in order to allow the use of cannabis in the genre of the medicines. Scientific Facts such as the “autonomy” and considerations of the “symbolic values” have been led for constantly justifying the prohibitions of medical cannabis (Bagavathiannan et al., 2019). There has been the inclusion of the moral and political arguments from the Australian against the use of cannabis in medicine, keeping back its positiveness.
