Many years ago David was toward the end of a 5 mile run in Greenwood Park. He ran the last half-mile uphill as hard as I could. As he was about to finish, David was surprised by a car speeding down the winding park road. He reacted with RAGE – he was so angry that someone could be so stupid as to speed in a park in a 15 mph zone when children could be anywhere. David yelled at the driver and thought about the very bad things he would like to do to him. Later he realized that he had way overreacted. How could Schachter and Singer’s two-factor theory of emotion help explain his RAGE?
