Making Good Arguments: Three Perspectives, Due Nov 4th at 830am

Following the elements of a research argument, claim, reasons, evidence, acknowledge/respond and warrant, outlined in Booth, Colomb, Williams, Bizup and Fitzgerald (2016) chapters 7-11, map out three arguments to ground a research inquiry in landscape architecture. Employ a specific claim about a research area in Landscape Architecture that is of interest to you. Following Creswell (2003), one argument would be shaped by a qualitative inquiry, one by a quantitative inquiry, and following Deming and Swaffield (2011) and Groat and Wang (2013) one engaging research by design. The components of the research argument/s should be clearly indicated in text. For example: This is my statement about the essential role of gardens in hospice settings. [claim] Be sure to follow the Chicago style guide 17th edition in terms of setting up numbered or bulleted lists, if you use them. Include a word count and a list of key terms. To be successful in this assignment try to map out a clear trajectory that could help you resolve a specific question crucial to your topic rather than describing the entire practicum or thesis process. Each argument should apply a vocabulary reflective of your understanding of each perspective. Each perspective should be a min of 500 words.
