Agreement With Dilulio’s Argument
    In terms of how far the constitution is on the right road, I agree with both Dilulio and Rauch. Former White House Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Director John J. DiIulio Jr. is a big supporter of faith-based organizations. He has to, because he guarantees a dozen of them post-tax royalties from "Godly Republic: A Centrist Blueprint for America's Faith-Based Future." (Wittes & Nivola, p.15)
    It is a little less evident why DiIulio feels this way. He reminds us frequently, and with the disarming candor that has become his signature, that empirical research has not persuasively proved that religious institutions' social initiatives are any more beneficial than their secular equivalents in getting people off drugs or into employment. Religion, according to DiIulio, is a wonderful thing that provides several social and even health advantages. However, he makes the clearest policy case for religion-based social projects by claiming that religious groups are particularly excellent at inspiring contributors.
    While it is accurate that faith-based nonprofits do not work any better or worse than secular charities, that does not mean the government should fund them. DiIulio, on the other hand, has spent the past decade or so of his illustrious academic and policy career fighting for such funding. His arguments are not based on his personal religious beliefs; rather, he believes that religious charity and nonreligious groups should be treated equally when it comes to receiving government funds. Discrimination can be defined as anything less than equality.
    Bush's belief program, according to DiIulio, flopped since the White House lost the first debate (Wittes & Nivola, 20). He claims that several academics, legislators, and members of the news media incorrectly questioned the program's constitutionality.
