Part 1- System Analysis
Step 1: Sustainability Issue
Renewable sources of energy are being most appreciated and accepted by most organizations in various countries. Austria is not an exception. Renewable sources of energy in Western Australia have emerged as one of the leading energy sources. The organizations such as Regen Power, Aurenew Energy, Infinite Energy Solar Power Perth, and Solar Supplies, and many more utilize renewable sources of energy to pursue the sustainability approach in business. Therefore, the possibility of using renewable sources of energy is high. But, the situation is not as assumed. Though Western Australia has developed energy from solar and wind resources, the practical application of renewable energy sources accounts for 16% of the South West Interconnector System (Cleanstate, 2021). The state uses only 8% of solar energy. People living in Western Australia are not so accustomed to using renewable sources of energy. Even the organizations which produce renewable energy are not able to increase the rate of usage of renewable sources of energy in the community. In Western Australia, the Clean Energy Council is the association that presents the clean energy sector, including 550 member organizations operating in the area of renewable energy production and utilization (Businessnews, 2021).
The number of organizations using renewable energy sources is considered significant, but the local community of Western Australia consumes a small part of the energy produced by the sources. This can be because of the increased habit of using non-renewable sources of energy which creates a barrier in using alternative sources. Unawareness of the use of solar or other renewable sources of energy can also limit renewable sources of energy. Therefore proper knowledge within the community is needed, and they must be aware of the decreasing level of natural resources and the pollution produced through using those resources of energy. For maintaining a proper sustainability approach, the organizations and people in Western Australia must increase the rate of using renewable sources of energy. The target of SWIS and NWIS is to replace one-third of the energy usage by renewable energy sources by 2025 and 95% by 2030 (Cleanstate, 2021). The target of 100% renewable sources of energy use is assumed to be achieved by 2030.
Step 2: Project Scale: State Government of Western Australia
The Government of Western Australia owns the Synergy corporation for governing the use of electronic energy in the province. The state has Verve Energy, Horizon Power, and Verve Energy are the most well-known corporations which provide energy to the entire electricity of Western Australia. The province uses coal and gas for generating the majority of electricity, whereas a smaller amount of renewable sources are coming from wind, solar, and landfill gas. The state government of Western Australia targets to achieve 50% of renewable energy generation by 2050 (Atco, 2017). The barriers in regulatory and grid connection can be removed through increment in renewable energy investment. Decarbonization is the agenda of the state government in Western Australia, which promotes a sustainability approach through the proper use of renewable sources of energy. Usage of fossil fuels such as coal and natural gas has created significant barriers in the use of renewable energy in the province. These non-renewable sources create more harm which pollutes the air, water, and soil. It also impacts social beings. Damaging public health, loss of wildlife, land use, and global warming are the adverse effects of using fossil fuels which leads to social degradation. The State government of Western Australia faces issues in promoting the use of renewable sources of energy in social life. As often, access to energy resources needs proper education, socio-economic status, global partnership, and environment. The lack is the issue of less usage of renewable energy sources within the society. The people in Western Australia are accustomed to using the sources of energy from fossil fuels. Synergy is the prime authorized electricity retailer, which creates a barrier in using renewable sources of energy (Downes, 2021). The state government of Western Australia regulates the prices that Synergy charges for power.
Step 3: Brainstorming of all the factors contributing to the sustainability problem
Evaluation of the scales related to the problem of sustainability in Western Australia can be impacted through several factors such as social, economic, cultural, legal, knowledge, environmental, etc. The factors contribute both positively and negatively to the problem. Proper knowledge and education of the community regarding sustainability management is needed, which will help the organizations to promote renewable energy in the daily use of households. Lack of idea regarding the harmful effect of fossil fuel energy sources can create possible issues for the Government of Western Australia to implement sustainable practices for energy use. A sustainable approach promotes the utility of renewable sources of energy (González, Gonçalves, & Vasconcelos, 2017). The social impact upon the issue of sustainability is quite effective. The adverse impact, in this case, is related to the habit of using non-renewable sources such as coal and natural gas. The community in Western Australia depends upon the corporation Synergy, which has become the only source of electricity in the state. The opportunity to promote renewable energy as the necessity for electric supply lies here as Western Australia has several organizations that produce renewable energy. The Government of Western Australia maintains regulations in sustainability management. The government regulates the charge of power. It can develop an opportunity for the renewable energy organizations to align with the government's policies and provide electricity in proper charges to the community. The community must be aware of the environmental impacts due to the use of non-renewable energy. Global warming, pollution, decreasing public health quality, and loss of wildlife can be the major concerns of the...
