Machine Screws Exercise: Teams are to conduct a gage R&R study of the length measurement of machine screws. Five machine screws (approximately 2 in. long) will be supplied to each team for analysis. These machine screws were previously filed or ground so that the lengths of screws within a set span a certain range (e.g., 0.030 in.). Teams are instructed to conduct a gage R&R using two appraisers where each part is measured twice by each appraiser. Measurements are to be recorded to the nearest one-tenth of the smallest increment on the rule.
