Log on to InfoTrac College Edition and, in the keyword search entry box, enter a search term for a topic that interests you, possibly one you plan to use for an upcoming speech or one related to an area of study for another of your courses. Identify two or three articles on the same aspect of the topic that were published in clearly different types of magazines, newspapers, or journals—for example, in scholarly or popular publications. After considering the articles’ titles and reading a few introductory paragraphs or the abstract for each article, jot down some of the assumptions you think each article’s author might have had about her or his audience.
