Locate a classroom in which process writing, including conferences, is used. Observe the interactions that occur when writers seek a response to their writing, from the teacher or other writers in the class. Do the students seem to have suicient opportunities to read their work critically during conferences? How long do the conferences tend to last? In a week or two, collect the same type of data based on observations in another classroom either at the same or another grade level. Or revisit the same classroom each week for the same amount of time during the course of a month. Do you notice any changes in the conduct of the conferences or the interactions among the students?
