1st students discussion
In healthcare everything we do is to help our patients , and if there’s change in our department it’s to help our patients even more . Addressing and employee or employees that are resistant to change can be difficult but it must be done . Pointing out the fact that our department is a team and if we aren’t all on board with a work plan then it can prevent us from fulfilling our goal and that can negatively affect our patients , and we are here for them . I’d also point out that after changing the work flow and things doesn’t seem to get better than we would definitely return to work the way we did before . I’d hope after addressing to the employees that are against change in this matter would reassure them that this is the best way to go about things .2nd students discussion
As a manager I would do my best to address any concerns over the changes that would be taking place. It is important to hear your team out and understand where they are coming from. While, there is little to nothing you may be able to do about whatever change is taking place, you can at least help them to feel heard in the situation. I would also try and explain the positives that the change would have on the team and specifically the job they personally might be doing that will be effected. By helping them to understand why something might need to change, they might be more willing to understand and implement that change. I think that, as a manager especially, communication is key and a lot of the frustration over change comes from not being included or informed of the change or why it is being implemented.
