Daily financial management comes into play with many of the opening and closing tasks. Examples would include making sure the reception area clean and tidy, with no safety hazards when opening as these things can lead towards a patient accidents that would result to a big financial hit; making sure the equipment and computers are all working and have regular maintenance done as replacement can get costly; counting the cash register before and after business hours to make sure all the money is accounted for and following up and reporting any discrepancies found, employee termination increases costs as there is more time needed to hire and train a new employee; ensuring the security alarm is activated and the exit door is locked when leaving will divert break-ins from happening and prevent financial burden; Another action would be taking the bank deposit at different times each day, this removes the routine and will hinder possible robbery attacks.

Daily task of financial management in a medical office may vary depending on the clinic or company you are working for. Based on prior experience we were responsible for checking for balances, collecting payments, and of course managing the cash box. In the morning we would count the money in our cash box and make sure the balance was the same as the day before at closing. During the day we collected payment through credit card or cash. Other times patients just preferred to have the bill sent to them. At the end of the day we would print out a balance sheet. It showed us what patients payed with credit card and what patients payed with cash. This would help us determine how much money needed to be in our cash box at the end of the day and how much money should have been collected in total. Including the payments made by credit card. It was mandatory for us to have two people count and verify the balance. Once completed we filled out the proper paperwork and dropped it in the safe to be collected by the company for deposit. The process may vary from office to office. Even for us, we reached a point where we no longer collected patient payment. They later made a new policy that all office visits that required payment would be billed rather than collected in office.
