LEARNING OUTCOMES
The Bachelor of Nursing (BN), Bachelor of Nursing (Enrolled Nurse with Diploma in Nursing) (BNENDN), Bachelor of Nursing (Mental Health) (BNMH) and Bachelor of Nursing/Bachelor of Business Administration (BNBADM) courses are professional programs that require development of particular attributes for accreditation purposes. These are also included in the Learning Outcomes.
On successful completion of this unit, you should be able to:
1. Outline major health priorities and related strategies for children and adolescents and their families;(GA6)
2. Explain selected theories of growth and development as they apply to nursing practice;(GA9)
3. Assess growth, development and health of children and adolescents taking account of underlying anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology; (GA8)
4. Discuss factors contributing to injury in children and adolescents and the role of the nurse and family in injury prevention;(GA6)
5. Discuss selected issues related to reproductive health for families;(GA9)
6. Explain common early intervention and health promotion strategies to promote child and adolescent growth, development and wellbeing;(GA6)
7. Plan and evaluate safe, holistic, evidence-based nursing care for children and adolescents; (GA6, 7)
8. Develop appropriate evidence-based health education on growth, development and care for children and adolescents in collaboration with others; (GAs: 7, 8, 9)
9. Apply selected legal and ethical frameworks in relation to the role of the nurse in child adolescent and family health care settings. (GA 3)
