Learning Outcomes Assessed The following course learning outcomes are assessed by completing this assessment task: LO1. define enterprise architecture as a capability in organisations; LO2. restate business architecture and how to support the business to deliver strategic business outcomes; LO4. define the capabilities required to establish an enterprise architecture practice and explore tools required to support the team; LO6. evaluate and investigate key trends impacting organisations today and how enterprise architects respond to these trends. Assessment Details For this assignment, you will need to a research report of about 2000 words focusing on one of the following topics • Research the role of EA in Organisations • Discuss the role of EA in Business and IT Strategic Alignment • Discuss the Benefits and Challenges of EA in Organisations • Research and discuss the future of EA in Organisations Some of the important references are: 1. Introduction
In the current volatile business environment, it is very important for the organization to adjust their activities constantly according to the changes circumstances as the business transformations are taking place continuously. However, the long legacy of the activities, processes, development, planning and starting of the transformations in the organization can be a very daunting task as the complexity will be more in
the organization over the years (Lange, M., Mendling, J. and Recker, J).
The organisation even lack in their complete view of the business functions, information systems, technical platforms like the servers and databases, processes and the mutual dependencies among them. It is very difficult to execute the transformation initiatives the help of most beneficial way. This results in more delay in improvement of the business and it without having a consideration about the viewpoint of organization and transformation as a whole system. The transformation project can over and on their schedules and budgets and still unable to achieve the overall goals and this is the very common example for the challenge. The traditional transformation approaches like process improvement, program management, strategic planning and it governments are not able to change the course as they do not have a proper holistic picture and glue which can hold their transformation together.
the enterprise architecture approach is mostly used by the organization as an approach for planning and governing the applications to manage the constant changed and complexity and it also helps to align the resources of organization who achieve a common goal. The enterprise architecture can encompass the business capabilities, IAS, business processes, technical infrastructure and information of the whole organization and it can also facilitate the integration of strategy, business, it and personnel.
There are many obvious benefits of the enterprise architecture but still its implementation in the organization is questioned and even the benefits are also challenged which is very difficult to dissect. In this report we will study about the benefits Enterprise architecture along with its basic concepts and how it can be developed. Particularly we will discuss about the benefits of the enterprise architecture which have become challenges for the demonstration and not mentioned in the process of benefit realization itself.
There are many different studies which are linked with the activities of interface architecture to its actual benefits. Also, the benefit realization process has been addressed in some of the research papers. after performing all these studies, it is still not cleared how we can realise the benefits of EA and the actual source of all the benefits. As a consequence, there are different challenges in the implementation and planning practices for enterprise architecture and we are not able to realise the benefits of it. The enterprise architecture implementation project and the main cases of the business are still difficult to discuss.
In this whole report we will try to gain information about the benefit realization process of enterprise architecture by having a deeper knowledge of how we can realize the benefits of EA. we will mainly focus on the strategies, practices and resources from where the benefits of the EA were introduced.
Enterprise Architecture and Its Use
The enterprise architecture can be defined as the definition and representation of all the processes and IT systems of the business from a high level view which includes the interrelationships between them and also the extent to which we can share the processes and systems with the different parts of the enterprise. The main focus of the enterprise architecture is on the process and its product.
The enterprise architecture management operations or we can say the processes are used to provide direction and support to design and manage the enterprise architecture which can support the transformation in the organization. The management of enterprise architecture mainly focuses on the activities of management which are performed in the organization to install, maintain and develop the enterprise architecture of the whole organization. The management and processes of the enterprise architecture includes different types...
