Assessment Description


The purpose of this assessment is to foster students ability to coherently reflect on their undertaking of the Capstone: Strategy subject together with a reflection on their entire MBA.




Assessment Instructions


You are required to look back at their MBA course as a whole and identify the specific skills developed that will assist them in becoming effective practitioners in the workplace


Learning is a persistent change in performance or potential that results from experience and interaction. Reflective learning is the process of stepping back from these experiences and reflecting on how skills, attitudes, mindset and behaviours have evolved.


Your reflective essay must cover the following:

• A brief discussion on the value of reflective practice for managers and leaders.


• A personal reflection on learnings from the capstone subject and consultancy research process.


• A personal reflection on skills developed over the MBA.


• A personal reflection on how these will assist in future career endeavours.

The reflective essay should include a discussion of learnings from both a theoretical and practical perspective. Introduction
Reflective learning is considered an effective way that allows learners to get back from the different learning experiences that help them to develop effective critical thinkin
g skills. The process of making a reflection on previous learnings tends to improve any individual future performance with the help of analysing their journey and progress. This study will highlight the learning experiences that I have gained during my MBA course and undertaking the capstone strategy. Capstone strategy is a form of investment strategy that helps understand global derivatives and volatility in trading. Along with it will depict the skills I have learned from the course and also the future endeavour opportunities for myself.
Value of reflective practice for managers and leaders in the organisation
The reflective practise seems to help affirm individual potential that helps in developing leadership skills. From my MBA course study, I have learned that good leaders are those who encourage human potential and empower them to give their best performance. As per the views of Sousa (2018), good leaders also develop a culture of trust and respect among their socially recognisable team members. Effective reflection can be considered a process of personal development with the help of self-disclosure and increased self-awareness. As per my understanding, management students possess the capability of being a good leader because of their core learning skills. It can be said that these learnings help explore skills, behaviour and knowledge which is considered to be crucial for leadership development. I got my classmates and group members and respected them very well and always tried to lead them in making out of any problems. It helped me in developing leadership skills inside me.
In the course, I have developed different skills that have boosted my leadership ability and managerial skills. Along with it has also impacted me in developing crucial problem-solving skills, communication skills, researching skills and good networking skills. I believe that these leaders are much required for any managers and leaders of the organisation and determine their performance in the market. According to Hammer et al. (2018), capstone strategy also makes me understand the importance of disciplinary contexts that has made me ready for future professional contexts. I have also learned that team members are encouraged to understand the capability of the team towards finding an answer. For leaders and managers, the value of a reflective practice is also high that help them explore their leadership capabilities and help in solving existing problems. It is good for developing capabilities of intellectual adaptability, reasoning skill and effective problem-solving skills.
I believe that reflective practice is all about bringing improvement which promotes a better understanding of what is to be learned and applied effectively. It is more about exploring own and understanding the capability of a team to push them ahead. This signifies the role of leaders and managers in any organisation. In my MBA course, I have understood that leaders and managers are the support system of employee’s whole role determines the performance of the organisation. Leaders tend to identify and maintain the human potential that leads to the empowerment of employees and thus the organisation. In the course, I provided my 100% effort to understand the course of teamwork and team spirit in completing any task effectively before the deadline. This made me understand the importance and role of leaders in any organisation. This reflection gained me a better understanding of how I think about taking on a leadership role in my future endeavours.
