Lake Data Set (Appendix C.1). In this project, return to the problem of predicting chlorophyll (CHL), based on the level of the nutrient phosphorous (TP).
You will be using the data from all lakes and all dates. You are interested in whether there are seasonal differences in the relation between CHL and TP. For example, it might be that in winter there is much less chlorophyll no matter how much TP is in the water.Define dummy variables representing four seasons: winter (Dec/Jan/Feb), spring (Mar/Apr/May), summer (June/July/Aug), and fall (Sep/ Oct/Nov). Does a model that includes these dummy variables and their interactions with TP do a better job than a model that uses TP alone? Can the model be simplified by combining any of the seasons (e.g., treating fall and winter as one season)? Remember that instead of CHL and TP, you may need to use their logarithms.
