You are right that the correlational research design helps to decipher the relationships b
etween the study variables which impact each other and this type of study is more of informative and descriptive compared to other studies. Also, the advantages of correlational study are well defined which includes strengthening up study, providing numerical representation so that validity could be checked for statistical purposes (Cox Jr., L (2007). Also, the implications of study specifically in psychological settings are mentioned wherein naturalistic observation are involved in negative, positive as well as neutral correlations of mindsets, triggers and conditioning. Importance of third variable is also being mentioned well however, there is need to work with an example so as to clarify the usage and way the correlation is established and used.
