Identification of the Problem
    The identified problem is the ineffective pain management practices among nurses specifically when it comes to creating a balance between the comfort level of a patient and the appropriate methods and protocols of giving pain relief medications such as opioids to the patient. Sometimes nurses tend to overuse the pharmacological interventions and do not take into consideration the holistic approaches of care. Therefore, as mentioned by Bastable (2019), nurses must be trained to use medications as a pharmacological method along with non-pharmacological methods to ensure that they are able to adopt a comprehensive pain management strategy to ensure holistic patient care.
