Jason, a newly licensed counselor, works with Juliet, a mother of one, who has come to counseling without her husband to figure out how to leave him. Juliet has been talking with Jason for a while about feeling homesick and missing her family in Kentucky. She also reports domestic violence and states her husband refuses to allow her to move back home to her family. As it is apparent from many signs and symptoms that Juliet is telling the truth related to domestic violence, Jason, as a counselor, advises her to leave her husband, and return home with her 3-yearold daughter for safety reasons.

1. What do you see as the ethical and legal dilemmas of this case? What would you do differently, if anything, from what the counselor did in this case?
