Jacinto Ngimbi was teaching for twelve years in Luanda, and was consistently voted the best teacher in his school. He started teaching high school this year in Cabinda. He was very excited to be teaching in a different area of Angola. However, on his first day of teaching he became despondent. The students in his class were communicating in a dialect that was different from the Portuguese Jacinto was used to. He was finding it difficult to understand his students. He also noticed that his students did not understand the concepts of chemistry he was trying to teach. Whenever he asked his students questions, they would either not answer or answer incorrectly.
