It isn’t easy. Some years ago, my writing style had certain idiosyncrasies that I strongly defended (“I write like this”). Now I no longer agree with some of them, and have changed them so my writing will be more clear. Every time I revise this textbook, I fi nd ways to improve sections that seemed to be beyond reproach. However, I still trust my inner experience insofar as my writing is concerned.
