1. 2nd Great Awakening –
The second great awakening refers to the revival of protestant religious movement in the United States. This revival spanned from about 1795 to 1835. Several meetings were conducted all over the country including towns and cities. The camp meeting also began during this time.
2. The District of Columbia –
The District of Columbia was the district occupied by the city of Washington. It was chosen by president George Washington to be the capital of the United States. It was created out of land that was ceded
by Maryland and Virginia
3. President Jefferson –
Thomas Jefferson was the third president of the United States. He held office from 1801 to 1809. He was a capable American statesman with many other dominant qualities including being a diplomat, lawyer, architect and philosopher.
4. Judicial Review –
The Judicial Review refers to the power bestowed upon the Courts enabling them to pronounce regarding the constitutionality of legislative and executive acts of the government. It originated through the theory of limited government and in the theory of two laws- an ordinary law and a supreme law- in other words, the Constitution.
5. Marbury v. Marbury v. Madison-
This case recognized the principle of judicial review in the United States. This meant that the courts attained the power to remove laws, statutes, and government actions that the court deemed were violating the American Constitution. It became a landmark and historical case.
6. John Marshall –
John Marshall is remembered as the fourth Chief Justice of America. He held his position from 1801 to 1835. He was an American politician and lawyer.
7. Lewis and Clark –
The Lewis and Clark Expedition was a US expedition that was meant to cross the acquired western portion of the country after the purchase of Louisiana. It started from August 31, 1803, and lasted till September 25, 1806. The expedition is also known as the Corps of Discovery Expedition.
8. Aaron Burr –
Aaron Burr Jr. was one of the founding fathers of the country. He served as the third Vice-president of the United States of America. Thomas Jefferson was the president during his term in the office from 1801 to 1805. He was a politician and lawyer.
9. British Impressments –
British Impressment refers to the capture and forced institution into naval service by Great Britain’s Royal Navy in the 17th to early 19th centuries. Thousands of American men were forced to join the Navy during British war against France. It became a leading cause of War of 1812 between American and Great Britain. Impressment ended in 1814.
10. The Battle of Tippecanoe-
The Battle of Tippecanoe took place on the 7th of November, 1811 in Battle Ground, Indiana. It was fought between American forces led by Governor William Henry Harrison of the Indiana Territory and Indian forces associated with Shawnee leader Tecumseh and his brother Tenskwatawa. It ended with the defeat of the Indians and burning of their village.
11. War of 1812 –
The War of 1812 was a fought between the United States and its allies, and the United Kingdom and Ireland and its allies. The United States declared war on UK in June 1812. It ended in a draw between both the sides.
12. Battle of New Orleans –
The Battle of New Orleans took place between the British Army headed by Major General Sir Edward Pakenham and the United States Army headed by Brevet Major General Andrew Jackson. It was fought on January 8, 1815.
13. Hartford Convention –
The Hartford Convention refers to a series of meetings held at Hartford, Connecticut, US from December 15, 1814 to January 5, 1815. The New England Federalist Party met in order to discuss their grievances regarding the War of 1812. The meetings also discussed the problems that were arising due to the increasing power of the federal governments.
14. Second Bank of the US –
As the name suggests, the Second Bank of the United States was the second federally authorized national bank of the US. It was located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was functional from February 1816 to January 1836.
15. Panic of 1819 –
The first financial crisis endured by the United States is often termed as the Panic of 1819. It is even called the first Great Depression by some historians. It directly resulted in the collapse of the American economy. This collapse persisted through 1821.
16. Missouri Compromise –
The Missouri Compromise helped to maintain the power balance between the North and South in the US Senate. It was a federal legislation that designated Maine as a free state, and at the same time Missouri as a slave state.
17. McCulloch v. Maryland –
McCulloch v. Maryland resulted in an important U.S. Supreme Court decision that impacted the US Congress directly. The decision outlined the scope of the U.S. Congress's legislative power. It also defined the relation of the Congress’s power to the powers of American state legislatures.
18. Worcester v. Georgia –
In the Worcester v. Georgia outlined a bold decision by the US Supreme Court. In this case, the court vacated the conviction of Samuel Worcester. On the other hand, it deemed that the Georgia criminal statute was unconstitutional. The statute prohibited the presence of non-Native Americans from being present on Native American lands without a license. 
19. Monroe Doctrine –
The Monroe Doctrine was a declaration from the US towards European nations that the US would no longer tolerate colonization on its lands. It was delivered by President James Monroe during his annual message in December 1823. It defined the policy of the US towards European countries.
20. “Corrupt Bargain” –
In the American political history, three events have been called a corrupt bargain. The first is the U.S. presidential election of 1824. The second is the Compromise of 1877. The third is the pardon of Richard Nixon by Gerald Ford in 1974
