The text discusses examples of traditional mass storage such as magnetic disk and solid-state drives. While these still underpin most mass storage, in corporate environments they are often accessed via Network Attached Storage (NAS) or Storage Area Network (SAN) technologies. Find and summarise ONE resource that describes EITHER NAS or SAN storage technologies. The resource, and your summary, must focus on either NAS or SAN, NOT BOTH.
    Title and Reference:
What Is a Storage Area Network?
Netapp (2019) What is storage area network? [Online]. Available from https://www.netapp.com/us/info/what-is-storage-area-network.aspx [Accessed 15 April 2019]
    Summary:
The article des
cribes about storage Area Network and their benefits. I chose this resource because it is clearly focusing on storage Area Network technologies and their features and benefits. SAN technology offers various benefits to business such as high throughput, high performance, data at centralized shared storage, low latency, low cost etc. This technology is based on block storage which connects server to (LUNs) logical disk units.
The article also describes SAN play vital role in the business and organizations. Storage Area Network (SAN) is a technology that provides high speed storage networking architecture for organizations. This technology manages the storage centrally and that storage is shared with multiple hosts.
The most interesting thing about article is Storage Area Network provide around 66% of the total networked storage market. it is intended to evacuate single purposes of disappointment, making SANs profoundly accessible and flexible. An all-around planned SAN can without much of a stretch withstand various segment or gadget disappointments. SANs is used to make availability of application better by providing storage at multiple hosts. It also provides better performance of applications.
I found this article useful because this article explains everything about SAN technologies such as type of SAN, their protocols, SAN use case etc.
Storage Area Network (SAN) are configured mostly with various business sensitive and performance critical applications such as oracle database, Microsoft sql server, SAP platform etc. The various protocols used by SAN are fibre channel protocol, fibre channel over Ethernet, internet small computer system interface etc. One of the biggest vendor of Storage Area Network is NetApp.

Operating systems use file managers to interact with mass storage devices. However, the way in which data is stored and retrieved is dictated by the file system. There are many types of file systems used by modern operating systems. Find and summarise ONE resource that describes ONE such file system that is NOT FAT, FAT32 or ExFAT. The resource, and your summary, must focus on A SINGLE file system.
    Title and Reference:
NTFS File System
Byte-notes (2019) Type of file system [Online]. Available from https://byte-notes.com/types-of-file-systems/ [Accessed 16 April 2019]
    Summary:
The article describes about NTFS and its features. I chose this article because it contains good explanation about NTFS and their features. It is New Technology File System that is supported by professional operating system such as windows 2000. Some of the features of NTFS are their naming conventions, good security, high reliability etc.
The article also describes, in Naming conventions features, file name is up to limit 255 characters. The names of file are not case sensitive and carry mostly characters except / >< * | :”. There is good security provided by NTFS for file and folder. . NTS file system is highly reliable and easily recoverable. NTFS file and folder is using transaction logs to modify file logs automatically.
The most interesting thing about article is The security provided by NTFS is safer than FAT and FAT32. NTFS handles security by giving permissions to file and folder individually. Every file and folder in NTFS partition contain access control list. The partition size of NTFS is larger as compared to other file system such as FAT. NTFS maximum partition size of file is 16 exabyte. There is 50% of NTFS file compression.
I found this article useful because this article explains the most important feature of NTFS file system in well manner. NTFS file system supports fault tolerance i.e. if there is loss of transaction due to failure of power then transaction logs are helpful in recovering data from such failures. NTFS file system also supports mapping of bad cluster which is helpful in detecting area of disk with errors.

    Week 3
The National Broadband Network (NBN) is currently being rolled-out across Australia and there is a mix of technologies that are being used to deliver Internet services (for example, FTTN, FTTC, FTTP, HFC, fixed wireless and satellite). Find and summarise ONE resource that describes ONE of these delivery technologies. The resource, and your summary, must focus on A SINGLE technology.
    Title and Reference:
NBN Fibre to the Node: Everything you need to know
Choros A. (2018) NBN fibre to the node [Online]. Available from
https://www.whistleout.com.au/Broadband/Guides/nbn-fttn-everything-you-need-to-know [Accessed 16 April 2019]
    Summary:
The article describes about FTTN technology. I chose this article because it explains about the technology in simple and technical way both. FTTN stands Fibre to the Node which is technology at heart of National Broadband Network across Australia.
According to author, In Fibre to the Node connection, an NBN fibre optic cable is situate to a central cabinet in the node where it links to user home by using surviving copper wiring. The cost of Fibre to the Node NBN may differ that depend on the speed user need and also depend upon service provider.
The most interesting thing about article is about NBN plans for FTTN. The NBN plans for FTTN is always varying but user needs to pay cost between $ 60 to 100 for every month. The NBN FTTN maximum speed is 100Mbps for Premium (NBN 100), 50Mbps for Standard Plus (NBN 50), 25Mbps for Standard (NBN 25) and 12Mbps for Basic (NBN 12).
I found this article useful because its explains everything about NBN FTTN that u need to know. The NBN FTTN is built up of fibre optic cables which run out the nation from real centres. These links are fit for conveying unimaginably quick and solid web. an NBN fibre optic cable is situate to a central cabinet in the node where it links to user home by using surviving copper wiring. Fibre to the Node uses existing copper wiring as it does not require to deploy new hardware in user home. The FTTN NBN is easy to install.
