It is desired to design a culvert to traverse a highway embankment that crosses a trapezoidal channel with a bottom width of 12 feet and HJ 2H side slopes. The channel is running on a slope of 0.005 ft/ft with a Manning n value of 0.035. The culvert must be a 75-ft-long RCP with downstream invert of 0.0 ft. A shopping center is located 2000 ft upstream of the embankment with a parking lot at elevation 17 ft as shown in Figure Pl6.l 8. Design the culvert to carry a design discharge of 700 cfs without flooding the parking lot of the shopping center. Use the step method of profile calculation.
