Introduction
This paper is a critical analysis of two selected articles “Program evaluation of an in-school daily physical activity initiative for children and youth” by Bremer, Graham, Veldhuizen and Cairney (2018) and “A program evaluation of the learning focussed model in the Craven County” by Barber (2018). With help of this paper analysis, the evaluation of the report and the critical thinking process has been developed. Detailed ideas on the models of program evaluation and methodological references will be found enriching knowledge of the future students with help of this study. The criticism of the papers has been done by comparing and contrasting facts related to the methodology and models used.
Question 1: Synopsis of Two Articles
Synopsis of the Article by Bremer, Graham, Veldhuizen and Cairney (2018)
This paper deals with school systems in enriching the physical fitness of the children by adopting the factors of DPA that is Daily Physical Activity. With help of the policies and initiatives associated with the DPA, students in school and the faculty too may contribute to boosting up energy, gaining potential for improvised activities (Bremer, Graham, Veldhuizen & Cairney, 2018). The purpose of the paper lies in the evaluation of psychosocial outcomes regarding the policies and initiatives associated with DPA in a school for evaluating impact in the children of 9-14 years. The process that the paper has undertaken is program evaluation and associating a report.
For conducting the program, a teacher-led DPA program has been initiated for 20 minutes in a day and has been repeated for 20 consecutive weeks. The questionnaire method has been used to evaluate the effectiveness and progress of the students and the questionnaire has been devised and administered in three different time points: baseline, mid-intervention and post-intervention. To check the intervention effect among the students, a mixed effort model has been implied by considering the constant effects of age and sex.
An omnibus test has been associated to deal with the evaluation of a large number of students that have been followed by three distinctive explanatory interventions. However, the report by the teacher was not satisfactory as it revealed only 21% of the students were found directly involved in the program. Therefore, the sync between total adherence and the student reported outcome has been found mismatched. Hence, the DPA program evaluation has not been evident in enriching the skill and performance of the school students.
Usual practice on the contrary has been found more effective for elementary school-aged children. Even though the adherence and association with the program have been found poor and less effective, but it did not create any negative impact among the students. Improvised way adoption for supporting the DPA elementary program has been initiated by the ongoing schools though to create a positive impact among the children and to associate their wellbeing. As the ongoing factors have a great impact on the psychosocial facts of a child, the application of the process was supposed to be concise and supportive.
The adherence to the program was associated to improvise psychosocial factors of the children by enlarging their physical activity and fitness. As the health of children is an important factor, distinctive health policies and the importance of health policies have...
