Issue of telecommunication technology still exist
Introduction
The telecom industry is a highly competitive industry. There are several players in the
domestic and international market that greatly impact the levels at which they operate and
compete as well as price and innovate their operations. As this technology is maturing the
disadvantages are also being overcome and some factors are being added and also the legal
aspect of it is being considered for low risk and high safety and security. Yet innovation and
sustaining the competitive advantage achieved by the innovation in order to cover up for the
costs is a major problem that exists in this field (Valovic, T. S. 2000).
Design and deployment of new services
There have been major developments in the field of telecom. For example, the major
development started few years back with mass market of VoIP services that focused on utilizing
broadband internet access. This access allows to the users to place and receive telephony calls in
the same way like it can be done with public switched telephone networks (Haga, 2003).
VoIP or voice over internet protocol are termed as communication protocols,
methodologies, technologies with transmission techniques involved in the delivery of voice
communication and multimedia sessions over Internet protocols or IP networks. VoIP covers IP
telephony, internet telephony, and voice over broadband, broadband telephony and broadband
phone (Valovic, T. S. 2000).

This service was started off by Yahoo and today is a part of all major telecom service
providers. Yahoo invested a lot of money, time and effort in order to innovate VOIP services and
hoped to make a lot out of it. But the fact that these services are public and can be easily
duplicated, modified and improvised as well as used by several other telecom service providers,
it leads to loss of the competitive edge (Informa World, 2008).
The deployment and designing of new services are an extremely essential element in the
telecom industry. It is even more important to ensure that there be appropriate sustenance of the
competitive advantage achieved by these innovations. This makes it essential for them to find
ways in which they can avoid other telecom players from the usage of these innovations
