1. It is needless to say that effective supervision is vital for creating environments that are safe and responsive to needs of the children. In a service it will help to protect the children from hazards
2. The 3 factors are the age, number and the ability of the children
3. It can foster vision in others and enhance the professional ties that can safeguard children also in the service
4. The aim of the Quality Area 2 under the National Quality Standard is safeguarding and also promoting the safety and health of the children and protect them from any kind of harm and injury

In your own words, briefly discuss how you would conduct a risk assessment of toys and equipment
Toys must comply with AS/NZS ISO 8142 where it is applicable. It is the duty of the educators to give consideration toward age and safety appropriateness in terms of all toys.
Firstly, I will be identifying the risks associated with the toys such as the small toys needs to be immediately discarded, then identifying the intensity of the risk such as it can get stuck in an infant’s throat (small toys) so it should be kept away from them, then the risk will be prioritized accordingly and then decision will be made which toys should be kept with the children and which toys needs to be discarded.

The risk assessment process should consider the hierarchy of control. In your own words, explain each of the elements of the hierarchy of control.
Elements in hierarchy of control:
· Physically removing the hazard (eliminate)
· Replacing the hazard (substitute)
· Removing people from the hazard (isolate)
· A physical modification ( engineering controls)
· Altering work methods (administrative controls)
· Protecting and minimising the risk (PPE)

The National Quality Framework has set out the minimum requirements for child to adult ratio in centre-based services, and in family day care settings. Research and give the ratios for centre based care and family day care, as given in NQF. Where would you find this information?
It can be stated that the National Quality Framework tends to set out the minimum child ratio requirements for the care and education servuces of the children.
In terms of the centre-based care birth the educator to child ratio is 1:4, over 24 months but less than 36 months the ratio is 1:5, 36 months and above the ratio is till 1:10 and over preschool age it is 1:13. On the other hand, for family day care the ratio requirements is approximately 1:7 child to educator ration. However, there are some exceptions also in terms of ratio

Under the 124 Number of children who can be educated and cared for--family day care educator and some of the exceptions are:

· The approved family care venue is in a remote area and no alternative to education is available
