You are looking to integrate some of the terms and concepts that you have learned so far in the course on a specific topic or several topics of the various chapters that you have read. An integrative paper is essentially an opinion of the material covered and how you feel about it.An integrative paper is a review of the literature that includes theanalysis, synthesis, and evaluationof information on awell-defined content areaandincludes the writer’s original thoughts and ideason the topic which, are based upon theavailable information. Also include potential applications for them in examples. You may use past, present, or future global security situations for your examples.
You do not need outside sources, but can use them, if needed.
The integrative paper begins with abrief
introduction to the area of interest and focuses the reader’s attention on the issue and background of the topic. This brief introduction leads the writer into a review of each of the terms and concepts that must be explored to gain an understanding of the many facets associated with the topic. You will determine which areas are of interest to you from the various chapters. It is the writer’s responsibility toprovide logical transitionsfrom one pertinent area to another (one topic to another). It is through these transitions that the reader begins to understand the larger picture. While discussing the information within a topic the writer should:
- distinguish between your belief and what the book states and explain why. (your belief may or may not be the same as the book (give examples to help strengthen your paper).
- identify relationships among the terms and concepts that you have chosen from the various chapter topics.
- identify major trends or patterns in the information that you write about
