OdgerANTH 215FALL 2021 Interview Practice Ethnolab #5 Due: Sunday November 7th at 11:59 PM Hand in all components in one document Step 1: Based on your research topic, write a minimum of 10 questions that would work for either a one-on-one interview. Include possible follow-up prompts for each question. Step 2: Review CNC’s Consent Form provided by our Research Ethics Board (REB). Using this form as a starting point, draft a consent form that would be appropriate for your study. · https://cnc.bc.ca/research/ethics/forms Step 3: Interview a friend, family member, or classmate (in cases where social distancing needs to be observed, this can be done virtually) · They do not need to be an expert on your topic. (As this exercise is just for practice, your interviewee can make up their answers.) · Make sure to get their consent first using the consent form. Make sure you go through it with them and allow them to ask questions · Keep your interview to 20 minutes (even if you do not get through all of your questions). · Practice writing notes as you are interviewing Step 4: Write a reflection on the experience of conducting an interview. Reflect on how you did and what you could improve upon. Take into consideration: · Were your questions leading, closed, or too vague? · Were the questions in a logically structured order? Did they probe effectively using a mix of techniques? · How did your interviewee appear to feel? How did you feel during the interview? · Write down what you discovered about yourself (strengths, weaknesses, things to remember and work on) Step 5: Hand in: · Interview Guide (from step 1) · Consent Form (from step 2) · Interview Reflection (from step 4)
