Knowledge management system is the process of managing i.e. creating, storing, using and sharing of knowledge and information within an organization. 
One role of knowledge management system is to ensure that perspectives, ideas, information and experience that need to be share are stored at a right place at right time so that informed decisions can take place and efficiency can be improved by reducing the need of rediscovering knowledge. 
Other role is that it creates a knowledge storage where admin can write up articles and frequently asked questions to help or assist the employees of organization to execute their tasks effectively and efficiently.

By eliminating time taken to train and guide employees, this knowledge management process  do not only make the learning process quicker but also increase the productivity as employees are able to execute tasks effectively and efficiently.
Expert systems
Expert systems are computer based decision making systems which are designed to solve the most complex problems of any specific domain. Expert systems replicate the decision making of human expert of that particular domain. Expert system are designed by gathering knowledge from human expert of that particular domain itself and then expert system uses both facts and heuristic approach to solve the most complex problems which otherwise required a human expert of that particular domain to solve the problem. Expert systems are considered as predecessor of AI, deep learning and machine learning systems.
