In this assignment, you will examine employment data obtained through a survey of business school graduates undertaken by a university placement office. Use the file Sample-Generator.xlsx to do this. Your answers to the questions below are to be based on your sample of 100 cases. Make sure to keep a safe copy of your sample since you cannot use Sample-Generator to reproduce the first sample. Question 1: Variable List a. Using the variables listed in the table above, state for each variable whether it is qualitative or quantitative. b. If it is qualitative, state whether it is nominal or ordinal, and if it is quantitative, state whether it is discrete or continuous. Question 2: Histogram a. Create a histogram showing the distribution of salaries. b. Calculate the skewness coefficient and comment upon the shape of the distribution: is it symmetric? If it is not, is it positively or negatively skewed? c. State which central measure would be best to use to describe the centre of this distribution, and the reason(s) why. Question 3: Descriptive Statistics a. Prepare a table that shows the 5-number summary and standard deviation of salary for the five work areas. b. Construct side-by-side boxplots for the salaries. Briefly comment upon any differences you observe in salaries for each work site. Question 4: Pivot Table and Bar Chart a. Construct a pivot table that shows satisfaction for each area of employment. Place satisfaction in the rows, area in the columns and a count of job satisfaction in the body of the table. b. Obtain a second pivot table by converting the frequencies in each column into relative frequencies in each column (right click on any number in the table, then choose Show Values as % of Column Total). c. If the business school graduate wanted to get most satisfaction from their job, based on the information in the table, which area of employment should they choose? d. Construct a bar chart comparing the distribution of males and females in all areas of employment. e. Do employment areas differ in percentage of female/male graduates? If yes, how? Question 5: Conclusion From the tasks above, you should have some idea of the employment of business school graduates. Write a short paragraph summarising your main findings.
