Significance of acupuncture and oriental medicine:- 
 
Introduction:- 
Acupuncture is a kind of naturopathy which relates to the traditional form of 
oriental medicine which originated in china and is being practiced by therapists 
all over the world.  These relates to the treatment of disorders related to 
construction of our body cells, which generate nerve cells that are present in 
almost every part of our body. These nerve cells transmit electric signals 
throughout the body, this confers that the human body is made up of complex 
bioelectric system which is due to the presence of body fluids that carries ionic 
strength. This technique involves the insertion of fine, sterile, metal filiform 
needles into specified points of the human body; these needles bear a 
thickness of about a single strand of hair. So the insertion into the body is 
painless, here the energy circulates throughout the body along through well 
defined pathways .but if this circulation process is disrupted, the result can be 
painful or some illness will be seen  
                                               Acupuncture points are stimulated to balance the 
circulation of energy, which influences the health of the entire being and 
promotes the body’s natural healing ability. 
Scope of acupuncture and its advantages:-  
Acupuncture treatment consists of interesting very fine needles at specified 
locations in specific points on the skin that are located near nerve endings. 
This is effective in two ways –  
1. Stimulation of specific nerves which transmit electrical impulses through 
the spinal cord and brain to the disease area. 
2. Stimulation and release of chemical substances from brain centers to 
from the body’s own mechanism for pain relief. 
The schedule for this system of treatment needs two core sittings which 
consists of 20 supportive sittings .treatment is done in every alternative day 
.once the patients get relief from the disease .He or she is asked to continue 
the sitting  once a week for 1-2 weeks and then completely stop the therapy .

Acupuncture is also an advanced therapy for treatment in any field like 
cosmetology, gyanic problems, physiotherapeutic treatments, beauty 
treatments and even in treating pre and post cardiac disorders. It is an 
extremely effective modality of treatment which has proved itself very useful 
in the field of medicines and other lively aspects. 
Some of them include  
1. Diseases in head ,neck ,limbs,muscularpains , cervical spondylitis ,slipped 
discs etc  
2. Diseases related to respiratory systems, cardiovascular systems, sexual 
disorders, gynecological systems etc. 
3. Diseases related to nerve deafness, paralytic attacks, and epilepsy .it 
also help in curing addictions to drugs.
