The Ethics of Stem cell research
Though stem cells have been recognized as potent tools in therapeutical aspects, but there
could
be observed moral conflicts about their application. This article deals with such conflicts
and also tries to present a particular solution. In other words, it investigates a range of assessment
decisions on sources, involvement, adult stem cells, and communal as well as personal
frameworks. In fact, author Dr. Gene Outka scrutinizes how disputes about abortion and stem
cell research congregate and deviate (Outka, 2002).
According to author, the key question is whether it is logical to argue that embryonic
stem cell research is ethically identical to murder? Author says that structuring the question this
manner can encourage a regrettable trend to confine evaluative potentials to a single either/or. To
overcome this complication, author suggests expanding the law of "nothing is lost" to existing
discussions means; construction of embryos merely for the purpose of research must be
inhibited, but research on "surplus" embryos should be acceptable or in other words, if embryos
are going to be abandoned or devastated then it’s better to obtain some good from them (Outka,
2002).
