This course has two fundamental goals that will be tested by this assessment: 1. Understand the general organization and structures of the Earth. 2. Demonstrate a fundamental knowledge about the surface and interior of the Earth. You will demonstrate your understanding of these two goals by preparing a written response to the following prompt. Modern Physical Geology is based on the theory of Plate Tectonics. Provide a written response following the principles of technical writing that answers the question: How does the theory of Plate Tectonics explain the observed properties of the surface and interior structures of the Earth? 1. Your answer should be in your own words and demonstrate your own understanding of the goals. 2. Be sure to provide a description of the process of Plate Tectonics. 3. Include at least 3 specific processes/structures in your discussion. Since this is the first year we need to collect this data, your response will be evaluated for accreditation purposes but your score for your grade will be based on providing a "good faith effort".
