In this course, you can become acquainted with and explore several nursing philosophies, theories models, and theorists. You also can select one nursing theory or model discussed in this course for an in-depth analysis. Analysis of the theory, coupled with application to a clinical scenario is intended to demonstrate the relevance of nursing theories to professional practice. If you have not had a clinical rotation (concurrent students) please use a situation from your own family/friends.  You will need to get approval for utilizing a Theorist other than those discussed in the course or textbook.  Theories: Florence Nightingale, Virginia Henderson, Faye Abdellah, Patricia Benner, Jean Watson, Roy & King, Neuman & Orem, Pender & Leininger Purpose: This assignment is designed to allow the student an opportunity to complete an in-depth analysis of a nursing theory/model. Analysis of the theory coupled with application to a clinical scenario is intended to demonstrate the relevance of nursing theories to professional practice. Limit paper to 5 narrative pages or less, excluding title and reference pages. Summary of the theory Describe the benefits/relevant usefulness of the theory. Describe the limitations of the theory. Briefly summarize the focus of the article. Critique the application or testing of the theory in the article. Describe a clinical practice issue in your work or clinical education setting. Examine how the selected theory would guide your actions and decisions in the delivery of nursing care related to this issue. Explain the significance/value of this theory to your own personal philosophy of nursing. Examine how this assignment contributed (or not) to your understanding of nursing theory.

    The Jean Watson Theory of Human Caring primarily focuses on the fact that human beings cannot be separated from their self, nature, others, and the larger workforce. The emphasis of the theory is on the caring relationship existing between the nurses and patients (Watson & Woodward, 2020). Considering this theory in nursing, the core of the theory is that authentic and compassionate care has a profound impact on the healing of the patients. The theory highlights the power of interpersonal process between the care giver and the care recipient in the process of healing. The care giving factors of the theory encourages nurses to not only fulfil the physical needs of the patients but also to look after their emotional, spiritual, and social needs. This helps to ensure that human dignity is respected under all circumstances.
Benefits of the Theory
    The primary benefit of the theory is that it highlights the fact that caring is a mutually beneficial experience for the patients as well as for the nurses. Also, this theory promotes self-actualization at the personal and professional level. In addition to this, the theory promotes the human aspect of patient care with a primary focus on compassion and empathy to promote holistic healing (Gunawan et al., 2022).
