INSTRUCTIONS: In preparation for this discussion, read Chapter 3 in your textbook, Give Me Liberty, then read the Power Point/Lecture for Chapter 3 found in Course Modules under "Chapter 3".  For further understanding of the topics, refer to the supplemental videos/articles in the  Chapter 3 Module. Choose two of the discussion questions below and with a well-thought-out response (at least two paragraphs), create a thread (REPLY) for each, then post your responses. DISCUSSION QUESTIONS: 1. List the English colonies that were established in North America between 1660-1750. Why was each established? 2. Explain one of the major social and political crises that occurred in the English colonies during this period and give your opinion, too: 1) The Salem Witch Trials (watch film); 2) Bacon’s Rebellion (watch film); 3) King Philip’s War; or 4) The Glorious Revolution and its effect on the English colonies. 3. What is Mercantilism and how did the English use it to expand their power. 4. Why did slavery gain favor as the main source of labor during this period? In other words, how did Bacon’s Rebellion and cheap land in Pennsylvania (as well as in the other new colonies) effect the English planters' decision  to turn to slavery as their main source of labor in the Chesapeake Region (Virginia and Maryland)?
