How does culture influence the media you consume and how you react to it? Think about the movies, tv shows, podcasts, music, books, etc that you consume. How do these shows illustrate some of the concepts that we have read about this week? How do issues of diversity and representation affect you as a consumer and as a citizen? What can/should be done to encourage more equitable representation in media? Do you agree with the requirements like the one proposed by the Oscars?


As noted in the syllabus, your paper should have the following elements:



  • Be about 400-700 words in length (about 2 pages double spaced)

  • Respond to the writing prompt

  • Synthesize information from the class readings and apply it to your own life.

Introduction
    In United States the native Americans are treated as primitive, living in teepee-dwelling with a feather on their heads and was imaged as poor, uneducated and substance-abusing people. Such negative thinking is very common in America. Further, what differentiates the native Americans from being successful is how the legal system, media and the education system thinks and treats with them. There was numerous research conducted on the way the media views the native Americans and is considered as the biggest barrier to the public sympathy towards these people. Further, the people are shaped by the society and the culture in which they live. From this we will try to analyze on the issues which are impacting the native Americans and creating a differentiation among them with respect to the race, prejudices and also creates disparities in getting public health and education services.
Analysis
    There are four levels of culture which are ideas, institutions, interactions and the individuals which works in a collaboration with each other and strengthens the social and culture among the people. These helps to understand the ways to be good individuals. The institutions consist of the media, education and the legal system of US.
