1. Were you able to find GMO-based foods easily at the supermarket? Were the GMO products clearly marked as containing GMOs? Explain.
Genetically modified organism-based foods are readily available in the supermarket. Corn is the most commonly grown crop in United States that is based on genetically modified organism. Soya bean, potato mostly the varieties of Ranger Russet, Russet Burbank and Atlantic potatoes and squash was among those products in the supermarket which were genetically engineered. These are products are very easily found in the supermarket.
Some of the GMO products available in the supermarket were marked and labeled by a uniform label referred as bioengineered (BE). The corn and the soybean packets were labeled while for the other products there was no marking for GMO labels. This suggests the fact that although a law has been passed in 2017 regarding labeling of the genetically engineered products but it shall come into effect after January 1, 2022 as mentioned in the legal proceedings (Castellari et al., 2017).

The necessity of GMO food lies to the fact that it helps to reduce poverty and hunger among small farm holders in the developing nations.
