In the U.S. supermarket, there is a range of GMO foods easily available including canola, cotton, corn, alfalfa, arctic apple, papaya, and soybean. Around 70 percent of the supermarkets in the U.S. are now keeping GMO-based foods. Since, the commercialization of GMO foods in 1992, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has rejected any kind of labeling of GMO foods. However, in the year 2016, the new regulation has arrived, which clearly states that U.S. food manufacturers must alert their consumers with the presence of genetically modified ingredients through labels, text messages, and QR codes. Now the term bioengineering food is mentioned in the GMO foods as the new labels. This is mainly done concerning help the consumers be fully informed and avoid any kind of confusion while purchasing GMO foods (Elder et al., 2018). Keeping the consumers informed is essential.
