First find an appropriate transcript of a trial from John Jay’s “Criminal Trial Transcripts of New York County Collection (1883-1927)” collection (http://www.lib.jjay.cuny.edu/crimeinny/). Access the website on a JJ computer or by connecting to the JJ library from home. Click on either of the two links for the digital collections.Scroll through the different cases, click on “About the case” to see a little more information and to see how many pages the transcript is. Choose a transcript that isat least 50 pages long. After having read through the transcript, answer the following questions:



1.What is the time period of your trial? Use the “Introduction” section of the relevant chapter in your textbook to give a brief history.


2.What is the crime on trial? Provide a brief summary.


3.What is the argument of the defense? Select at least two quotes to support this.


4.What is the argument of the prosecution? Select at least two quotes to support this.


5.What are three (3) main themes addressed in the trial (ex. class, race, gender, etc.)





If you cannot answer these questions, you should select another trial.

·Format: Times New Roman, 12 pt., double-spaces, standard margins.Your title for this assignment should be the bibliographic information of your trial (title, date, crime, etc).
