The Globe and Mail; Toronto, Ontario. October 20, 2021 Politics has impacted many countries. An insights inequality in social media and their significance in politics are affected by ideas, beliefs, and the ways in which various political organizations seek to mobilize support. In the article titled “Politics has become a thankless, dangerous job” by Mason, Gary (2021), he argues that there’s danger to which all politicians job is subject to physical threats they face, and the danger of malicious word on social media platform (“Politics has become a thankless, dangerous job,” 2021). The author uses personal facts and quoting considerable options of how social media influence politics job in individuals’ life. The social media platform may reflect the interest and values of how the politics view in society, resulting in the harassment, and personal attack of the less powerful. However, these platforms do not dictate their values and limitations of freedom of expression. The author then describes how the risks of violence resulting in legislator had to live with because of augmented by social media. The social media effects are an attempt to simplify the problem of violence and it is generally understood that the flow of information increases political knowledge, and thus can strengthen political engagement contrary to what anticipated. Just because social media provide the technology to do certain things online does not mean that these are the right things to do. The author claims that social media platform has a serious influenced in Facebook and Twitter making it dangerous work environment in politicians’ job, including security budget issues, and the risks of their personal safety and their families, but then also say about politicians have nothing to do with the public because of the risks its posses. In a 2022 survey, reports that 74% among the social media users helped them interact with a more group of people and made them feel as though they had a support system during trying times. The author uses trustworthiness to make his arguments valid as it only informs about his opinion. For every issue there’s no end to the criticisms in social media it is transforming the way organizations communicate because social media is free. However, his claim does not provide information about politician’s social activity, and from which this information was taken therefore, did now show the validity of the statement to the readers. The author explains several options about the treats and danger of social media platforms play a key role in shaping prejudice and hate speech online. He’s article is too one-sided, he uses high-profile personality like Catherine McKenna, Michelle Rempel Garner, Maxime Bernier, and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau etc. among others who has had social media influence with their job but did not provide reliable answer to support the solution he came up with. The author mentioned how politician’s job exposed to treats and risks against social media by listing out the negative impacts of social media he states, “One option is finally getting serious with the social media platforms that are creating a dangerous work environment for politicians” (Gary, 2021). Ultimately, discussing his own ideas and results of treats against social media makes him biased as he does not explain the positive impacts of social media, which is network and all freely exchanging information. He does not add anything to persuade the reader but only focus on the threats of social media platform. Through social media, anyone online is allowed to exchange idea, connect with, relate to, and mobilize for a cause. The author’s article has several claims and cases which are described in the news by internet source, yet not all the claims are supported by original source information. For instance, “This is no longer a freedom of speech issue. This is a public safety issue, and we shouldn’t fear trampling on certain rights in the name of the safer world.” (Gary, 2021) All these words suggest a negative reaction about social media platform, which makes the readers sympathize. In his statement, the author tries to explain his argument that social media platform is a treat to security. These claims are instant generalizations based on a few bad cases. Therefore, absence of reliable sources will not convince the readers about the social media issues. The author does not provide proper solutions to the issues of how politicians job is at risks of social media platform, and to support his claims of how social media become dangerous to politician’s job. Furthermore, the author made third option “doing nothing and accept our best people would want to have anything to do with civic life because of the risk it poses to their personal safety and that of their families.” (Gary, 2021). These facts show and support the idea that everyday there’s report of a politician about threats in a public space. (Gary, 2021) We speculate they’re likely to come from a various TV news. The author states that “It needs to be said that not all politicians are not blameless here.” This statement shows how the author lacks the same appeal to persuade the readers. In conclusion, politics job can be portrayed in terms of conflicts and controversy received the most attention in social media tools. The author mainly presents his opinion and options about politics risky job and the threat of social media prejudice. However, criticisms are often raised about the quality of information that the social media obtains. The social media platform is vital for understanding and challenging arguments how different social media platform reshape preconceptions. Furthermore, the ideas and opinions presented in the social media were often filtered through politics opinion within each social media platform rather than directly influencing the public.
