The stock is the same size in the X and Y axis as the base and the top of the part has an extra 1/16. These toolpaths must be placed before the contour toolpaths. Use the cutting conditions as outlined below. For 6061 Aluminum use the following: - HSS – CS - 165 to 850 ft/min, FPT – 0.008 to 0.015 - Carbide – CS -620 to 2020 ft/min, FPT – 0.008 to 0.015 For 1020 CRS use the following: - HSS – CS – 35 to 100 ft/min, FPT – 0.004 to 0.007 - Carbide – CS – 800 to 1050 ft/min, FPT – 0.004 to 0.007 Roughing - Use a 2” face milling cutter - Do not use depth cuts - Leave 0.01 for the finish pass - All material must be cleaned up. - The step over must be 70% of the cutter diameter. Finishing - Use a separate 2” face mill. - All material must be cleaned up. - Depth cuts are not allowed. - The step over must be 75% of the cutter diameter.
