Individual Reflection
Part of good health promotion practice is reflection, or reflective thinking. Reflection is a form of personal responses to an experience, situation, event, or new information; and assists with critical analysis, problem solving, evaluation, and creating meaning. Developing the ability to reflect will therefore assist with the development of your health promotion core competencies.
You are required to reflect on your individual core competency development as a result of your involvement in developing, implementing and evaluation your group project and its strategies. Access theIUHPE Core Competencies and Professional Standards for Health Promotionfor a list of competencies you will be expected to have at the end of your degree. This document forms the basis of this component of your assessment.
The sections required for submission are provided below. You must also include a plagiarism declaration.
- Competency 6: Assessment (250 words)
- Competency 7: Planning (250 words)
- Competency 9: Evaluation and research (250 words)
- Please choose one additional competency to reflect upon (250 words)
For each section you should discuss two key areas:
- the skills you believe you have already developed and why; and
- the skills you believe require further development in future units.
It is important that you demonstrate evidence of honesty, self-awareness, creative thinking, critical thinking, and a willingness to revise ideas. Reflect on your skills in the context of what this means in the real world (not just your ability to complete assessments). You do not need to include a reference list because you will be discussing your own experiences, values, opinions etc.
The following resources will assist with your reflective writing skills:
