According to Foucault, biopower is a powerful technique for governing individuals in la
rge groups; the distinguishing feature of this political technique is its capacity to regulate entire populations. It is a type of power that is directed at the population. Anne Fausto-Sterling contends for a developmental systems perspective on gender that rejects false dichotomies such as biology-culture and nature-nurture (Fiaz et al., 2019).
Both Butler and Foucault assert that sexuality is a social construct rather than what defines us.
