The middle colonies were started after the American Revolution in 1776. They got freedom from the clutches of British rule and formed states as New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Delaware. The middle colonies were formed by William Penn who ran away from New England to form Pennsylvania which is called the safe haven for the Quakers. The middle colonies emphasized on fur trading, family farming and few contracted labourers. The middle colonies consisted of a mixture Dutch, French, Finns, Belgians, English and Swedes people.
