Introduction
Suicide represents a challenging public health concern that affects a significant number of people, their families and communities. In Australia the rates among men in particular in rural areas like Wide Bay, Queensland, can be as high as 37.6 per 100 000 deaths (WHO, 2020). Such trends necessitate focused response, with nurses at the forefront, implementing primary prevention strategies that involve at risk population groups and aim at integration with local community in averting the challenge. In addition, through primary care fixation deprivation community integration with nurses in places such as Wide Bay can be a critical element in declining suicide rates by reducing the risk factors and enhancing protective factors (Bartram and Chodos, 2019).
Communities such as Wide Bay will necessarily require a broad-based multifactorial strategy to address suicide as there exist social and cultural beliefs and practices, economic aspects, and mental health issues that directly or indirectly affect the health of individuals and society as a whole (Hirsch, Sirois & Lyness, 2021). By helping individuals access services and addressing the social factors that contribute to the risk of suicide, the scope of practice for nursing has increasingly been extended into public health. The stigma associated with mental health and access to mental health services, especially among populations at risk, is unveiled by the work of nurses, whose efforts are directed toward the provision of both short-term and long-term services (McKinlay & Ross, 2022).

Queensland's coastal region of Wide Bay consists of both metropolitan and country areas such as Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Maryborough. In spite of the picturesque views and a cordial community found in Wide Bay, there strategies for effective implementation of mental health services are lacking. There is a high incidence of suicide among males, which is one of the highest in the country. This statistic can be attributed many factors, such as poverty, lack of social security nets, and inadequate mental health treatment facilities.
Men are especially susceptible to these challenges due to social stigma related to mental health issues. Seeking help becomes an uphill task for most individuals due to this factor (McKinlay & Ross, 2022). Therefore, It is Not only necessary for their practice, primary care nurses must also appreciate and embrace the dynamics of the communities they serve and their practice. Before Crescendo, a very narrow focus on the LoD in suicide prevention was ineffective even in Moreton Bay. For instance, in Wide Bay, effective suicide prevention policies must incorporate culturally appropriate interventions, community engagement strategies and work with local players targeting the enhancement of protective factors and help seeking behaviors among men who are often reluctant to seek assistance with mental health issues.

1. Socioeconomic Status
Socioeconomic status is a key social determinant of health and influences mental health, with high mental health conditions being observed in persons of low SES. In Wide Bay, there are many men who suffer from social economic instability as there are few employment opportunities for them, especially in the agricultural and industrial sectors. Economic strain may give rise to degrees of despair that increase the probabilities for the development of psychopathology, hence placing an individual at a great risk of suicide (Hirsch, Sirois, & Lyness, 2021).
