In this course, we're learning details of only the Intel 80x86 family of CPUs, mainly because they're very popular, and most of today's desktops and laptops arebuilt with one of these CPUs. However, there has been and is a wide variety of other CPUs out there, of which the following are just a few:
Most of the above are older systems that were quite famous and revolutionizing in their days. The main differences between all these CPUs is the set ofregistersand, more importantly, the set of executableinstructionsthey support.
Find some information over the web on any other CPU, and share here some unique aspect of its architecture, such as an unusual instruction of that CPU or something different about its registers, etc. The aspect you find and share doesn't have to be too fancy, just something new for the rest of us.
