In the gas absorption experiment in our laboratory, 1-L samples of the effluent (cleaned) gas are taken for ammonia analysis at equilibrium for each set of operating conditions. Four 40-mL aliquots are taken from each 1-L sample bag. Each aliquot is contacted with lO mL of double distilled, CO2 -free water. The water is analyzed for ammonia by specific ion electrode. For the past semester, the following results, in ppm ammonia, were obtained for an absorber water flow rate of 8 gal/hr and a total gas flow rate of 4 ft3 /min (70°F, 14.7 psia).
Does inlet ammonia concentration affect absorber efficiency?
