Introduction
Social movement is of prime importance in history of America. The anti-Vietnam, anti-
apartheid, Civil Rights and Student Rights Unions are Neocolonialist movements which led to a
change in the direction of development and prosper
ity of the nation. These movements have
guided the nation into being a better society. These movements are closely linked as they all
belong to the neocolonialist movement and were fought for the rights of the people. In my
opinion was the Civil Rights Movement in America from 1945 until 1970 a success as the
slavery system was abolished.
Analysis
Racism develops as a socially constructed ideology as a result of slavery where in the
Blacks were treated as slaves. The African race became synonymous with a lower race after
colonization and slavery. The Anglo-American culture has a history of savagery where in people
treated each other, especially women and children very cruelly. This led to the belief that the

Toledo, Ohio, William Shakespeare documented and propagated this view by creating the
character Caliban in The Tempest as a representation of an African slave as being not completely
human. This did lead to several beliefs that they were not even humans and were inferior.

safeguard their rights. 1964 has been called the year of freedom summer in the civil war. This
was the period when several murders were committed for the purpose of gaining democracy.
This book explains that three young activists of Mississippi were abducted towards the
end of the civil rights movement and were murdered near Philadelphia. This was a major event
in the civil rights movement in America as it caused a revolutionary movement. Mississippi was
one of the major spots of segregation and this had resulted in this being a hot blood spot.
In the dramatic moment of this community the author was sent to interview several
people and cover this story. This resulted in he preparing a documentary which resulted in this
book which forms an account of fact-filled stories that happened in Mississippi due to the
formation of the incident of the murders having occurred.
The book also mentions the details of the trial that occurred three years later. Huie fought
prejudice and hypocrisy through his profession and in this book he explains the events and
personalities involved in the murders. The hatred and suspicion involved in these...
