In project management, it is very important for all the stakeholders to understand the responsibilities and accountabilities of each person. While smaller teams can have more informal rules to keep track of responsibilities, in bigger teams with cross-‐department and inter-‐organizational collaboration, it is very important to create a more formal process to track responsibilities. This helps reduce confusion and leads project to faster completion. A RAM is a matrix that maps the work of the project as described in the WBS to the people responsible for performing the work. The RAM allocates work to responsible and performing teams or individuals. In addition to using a RAM to assign detailed work activities, you can also use a RAM to define general roles and responsibilities on projects. The type of RAM can include the stakeholders in the project.
